Voyage de la Vie
"Voyage de la Vie", or "journey of life" in French, is a big budget 'rock circus' modelled after the shows put up by the renowned Cirque du Soleil circus troupe.It is also the first circus production originated from Singapore. The performance was held at the impressive and cavernous Resorts World Sentosa Festive Grand theatre, with a huge stage flanked with giant golden dragon pillar sculptures .
The show begins by introducing the protagonist, simply called the Boy (Singapore Idol 2006 runner-up Jonathan Leong) who feels trapped in his 9 to 5 desk job.
He meets an enigmatic being called The Game Master (Alexey Goloborodko) who draws him into a world of wonder where he meets characters who represent different themes like Love, Temptation, Conflict, as well as Life and Death, while guided by the mysterious Lantern Keeper (Viktor Kee).
The various props used for each transition are rather mesmerizing.
